More info for week of December 15:

The holidays are closing in and we are sure that everyone is ready for a break from the hectic shopping season. It is time we do our annual Champagne tasting before the holidays. This allows for you to take an evening to relax and taste a selection of the bubbly. More than likely you will find a few bottles you want to celebrate with during your holiday season. We will be pairing chocolate and berries with the featured champagnes.

Along with Friday's wine tasting we will be hosting our regular Wednesday night beer tasting. Marcus from Marco's Pizza will be providing samples to accompany your Noel beer selections and the last of our holiday seasonals.

If we don't see you before the holidays may yours be a safe and happy one!

Cheers!

Piper Heidsieck Brut, Champagne, France NV
On Sale $29.99
Publix $44.99 - Winn Dixie $49.99
91 Points from Wine Spectator. "This is creamy, enticing and bursting with honey, vanilla, hints of coffee and candied berry flavors, all matched to a rich texture and firm structure. Fine length and harmony, with time to give. Drink now through 2010." Pair with shellfish, salads, cheese platters or just enjoy a glass by itself.

Block 7 Rosé Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast, California 2008 - $19.99
This new rose has had tremendous success since we have received it. Perfect for hot summer days while relaxing on the front porch or picnicking at the beach.

Blackstone Pinot Noir, California - $ 7.99
Publix 10.99 - Winn Dixie - 11.99
Winemaker Gary Sitton says the wine with its bright ruby color, "offers pleasing aromas of black cherry, violets and cherry candy, followed by spicy, smoky oak in the background. In the mouth the wine is velvety, with cherry fruit and spice. A lovely balance of fruit and acidity lead to a soft, lingering finish." This Pinot Noir pairs wonderfully with salmon, grilled lamb chops and wild mushroom pizza.

Cono Sur Pinot Noir, Central Valley, Chile 2008 - $8.99
Fresh purple-red color with aromas of rich, voluptuous fruit notes of cherry, raspberry, plum and strawberry. Flavors of sweet fruit notes stand out and the fine tannins give great texture and mouth-filling structure. A wine of personality and elegance, sexy and simple. Pair with pasta, grilled poultry, mushroom pizza, seafood and mild fish or pesto sauces.

Permutations Pinot Noir, Victoria, Australia 2008 - $16.99
A Robert Parker "Value Wine under $20". Packaged with 24 different labels featuring fantastically clever illustrations from the great British illustrator Paul Davis. Wunderkind winemaker Bill Downie says, "A light, bright and fresh Pinot Noir, well structured with savory, complex characters and nice texture. Rich plum, red berries, beetroot and herbal notes on the nose, with berries and rosemary following on the palate. Subtle, sweet dark fruit, toasty oak and fruit of the forest."

Hahn Pinot Noir, Santa Lucia Highlands, California 2006 -
Reg. Retail- $29.99 on Sale -$17.99
The white and black pepper background aromas blend nicely with clove fragrances on the front. The structure and balanced acidity of this wine allows the flavors to hang for a moment before it finishes with a light, slow and even departure that leaves the mouth infused with fresh pomegranate flavors. Serve this wine with baked halibut on a bed of sauteed Swiss chard and pureed potatoes, or to bring out the spice in the wine, try it with kicked-up Pasta Arrabiata

Next Pinot Noir, Oregon 2006
Reg. retail $19.99 - on Sale $17.99
A value wine from King Estate Winery. Aromas of orange peel, plum, cherry, rhubarb, pomegranate and spice. Flavors of cherry, plum, strawberry and hints of vanilla on the finish. Light, balanced fruit and oak nuances. Gold Medal winner at San Destin Wine festival 09'

Domaine Carneros Pinot Noir, Napa Valley, California 2006 - Reg. retail $32.99 - on Sale $26.99
Highly rated with 89 Points by the Wine Spectator reviewing it as, "Well-proportioned, with full-bodied plum, wild berry, spice and mineral notes that are structured, complex and long on the finish." "This bottling has been getting steadily richer and better over the years and has now reached the point where it's an authentic Carneros beauty. The '06 is a Pinot Noir to drink now, to savor its raspberry and cherry freshness, crispness and silky texture"
