Stayed at Edge Water Beach resort for our wedding on the beach in May. We rented a condo through VRBO.com from a private owner. the condo was wonderful! We went to the Papala Rest. which is in the resort. Food was great, BUT the night before my wedding we had a late dinner on the outside terrace. And I left my purse stting on the ground between our chairs up against a pillar. From what I have been told, our waitress found my purse right after we left, took it into the rest. and left it in an UNSECURE area. When I woke up in the morning and realized I left my purse at the Rest. I immediately walked over there. I was told by the hostess that no purse had been turned in. I was frantic needless to say. My marraige license, money, all my ID, etc. was in my purse. I walked the grounds talking to security, maintenance workerss and anyone else that had an edgewater ID on and gave a description of my purse and which condo we were in. Now this is the morning of my wedding, a day i should have spent pampering myself and spending with my future husband. I then went to the rest. a second time and asked to speak witht the manager only to be told that the manager was working the cooking line and that they had again checked the rest. and that no purse was found and that NOTHING had been written in thier night log about a found purse. I began looking in garbage cans around the resort, thinking someone took my purse and then may have dumped it. Nice thing for a BRIDE to be doing! I walked over to the Security Dept. to fill out a complaint and at the same time told them that I had been to the Rest. 2 times, that the manager would not come out to talk to me. It was during this time that the rest. called security to tell them they had found my purse! I went back to the rest., they handed me my purse and i asked to speak to the manager to find out where, what, who etc. only to be told the manager had left to go get change.... !!!!!! Of course all the money, including change was gone, my enire purse and wallet had been gone through and left a mess. Hostess told me my purse was locked in liquor room. I left thank ful to have my purse but so very angry in the way it was all handled. When I finally reached the manager on the phone later he said the incident didnt happen on his shift! He got the night manager on the phone and was told by him that the waitress found my purse, left it in an UNSECURE area in the rest. and didnt tell him till later.... HMMM..... that he locked it in the liquor closet, didnt write an incident report, didnt contact security as protocol requires, the waitress who we pointed out to during dinner where we were staying 150 feet from the rest., our balcony over looked the terrace, didnt tell the manager this info. So.... what am I to think! I made a report with security in Edgewater who questioned the staff and managers, I made a Police report with Panama City Beach police and still 2 weeks later after having asked for the report several times have not received it. I did contact the Property manager who apologized and assured me that measures have been put into place so that this doesnt happen to anyone else and he has offered to send the money that wsa stolen to me. On closing would like to add that we never received an apology from anyone in the rest. Our wedding took place right outside this Rest. that evening at sunset. All were aware of who we were, thought it might of been nice to have received an apology, maybe offer a wedding dinner to my husband and I. NOTHING............... I know it was my fault for leaving my purse, but the way it was all handled was terrible.
