Beachfrog,
I don't know if Salty's is still going or not. Heard it was going to be a condominium soon. We've eaten there on several trips. Decent burger and sandwich type fare, and portions are ample. Also -- wanted to chime in on the Spinnaker thread. We love dining outside at Spinnaker's. Very enjoyable after the sun goes down and you can enjoy the beach and the evening and the food was delicious. Haven't tried the Boatyard, but plan to this year. |

While I like staying in a condo over a hotel, I really miss all the fun places there were to eat and enjoy the evening along the beach. That was the charm of PCB. Seems 99% of those are gone now. My favorite restaurant was on Thomas Drive, a place called Runaway Island. The food was OK, but you felt like you were in the islands, or somewhere exotic and laid back when you went there. Sure do miss it and many others like it.

I haven't heard anyone mention Shuckums Oyster Grill. We enjoyed their oysters and grouper sandwich. Opinions?

Shuckum's Rocks!
Every once in a while, my husband and all our friends just have to jump in the car and drive out to Shuckum's for oysters... of course, our urges seem to be MOST urgent when we have hangovers, be we also love Shuckum's when we've been behaving ourselves...
plus, the staff and owners are real folks... they make it fun. Great fried oysters, great raw oysters, cold beer... fun hangout. (By the way, I am also 1/2 owner of Schooners and Boatyard... so I could eat free! Ha! So, this is a sincere compliment from a local girl!) |

Now... THIS is cool... go to the homepage of Panama City Beach, here on Tripsmarter, and click on the Latest Video clip! How cool is THIS! Food critic, Margit Bisztray's Top 5 Countdown from Beach TV - she reviews her favorite places for "Local Color" in Panama City, Seaside and Destin.
Very cool show... very fun to watch, and she's GOOD! Here's the link to the page with the video: http://www.tripsmarter.com/panamacity/index.htm |

Angelos Steak Pit
Last evening my family and I ate at the Panama City Chucky Cheese. I was not looking forward to my visit to this place. Bottom line very small game area and the Pizza sucked
. But as usual the kids loved it .This evening we ate at Angelos Steak pit. We arrived at about 6:00. The parking lot was jammed and people standing outside. My first thought was that we would have 1-1.5 hour wait. 15 minutes later we were being seated. The place is huge. The atmosphere was was decent. The prices were about what i expected for steak. The food was the highlight of the dining experience of the trip so far. Steak had a great and different taste. My wife even commented on it being better than Outback. I will definately go there again on my next trip to PC. It's a keeper.:D |

Love the different kinds of oysters baked with toppings and the atmosphere is to die for...;0) I mean that sincerely in the way only a beach bum could. And I do not own any restaurants at all so this is a true compliment from a Destinite who drives over for it. |

Boatyard is on Grand Lagoon, down the Lagoon about two blocks from Capt. Anderson's... it's on the water at Lighthouse Marina. Lots of seafood... half the menu is "Gulf Coast Classics" and the other half is a little lighter "Key West/Caribbean" flair, but good steaks, too. The whole menu and live cam, photos, etc. are on the website:
www.boatyardclub.com Check it out. Only two years old, and had some growing pains, but seem to have come through it more mature, more consistent and certainly VERY popular... packed every night - especially on weekends. Open for lunch, too. Come by boat or car. Boat slips available. Let me know if you decide to try it. |
