Memphis Style barbecue
Some place down there has to have some good ole Memphis Style barbecue. Which means, pulled pork or chopped meat, covered with slaw and saturated in BBQ sauce. I have heard Dan's Old South BBQ is close to Memphis style and one other place had BBQ similar. Sonny's BBQ sure doesn't meet that criteria. What a joke that place is! However, we only eat beef BBQ so if anyone can tell me if Dan's has beef barbecue that is chopped and not sliced, I would be willing to try it when down. Also, does anyone know anything about Beach BBQ? Thanks.

Beach BBQ was one of my favorites, but unfortunately it is closed. I used to not like Sonn'y, other then their baked beans. Now, I really enjoy eating there.

Beach BBQ
Yummmmmmm that was the best BBQ to me. So sad that it is closed. Just a little whole in the wall, but excellent BBQ and the ribs were to die for. Now if i want ribs, honestly the best place is Bayou Bills. Not only good BBQ ribs, but excellent seafood.

I have never tried Dan's Old South. Going down for a couple weeks next week. I will probably try it out.

I think Dan's has pretty good BBQ. Some of the best on the Beach. Great sauces. Definitely worth a try. I'm almost positive they have pulled beef.
I think you can order it "Carolina style" and get slaw added to it. (I thought Memphis style was dry-rub??) Good luck! |

That is the ribs. They do come wet or dry. We don't eat ribs but love BBQ sandwiches. If you are ever in the Memphis area, say for the barbecue cooking contest held each May, go to the Rendevous restaurant downtown or to Corkys BBQ. They both have excellent ribs. But those are just two of the many places that have great barbecue here!

Beach BBQ was pretty good for pulled pork and stuffed potatos. Too bad they closed. The waitress there was being stalked by her boyfriend on a motorcycle that drove past every 15 minutes-good for drama~
Sonny's is to real Q as McDonalds is to Kobe beef... |

Yeah, Beach BBQ is one place no one will get to experience again. I never got to the first time. Did developers buy them out or were they not doing much business?
