Not so crowded restaurants

Whenever my husband and I come to the beach, I can hardly get him into any of the restaurants down there. The only places we go are Triple J's Steakhouse, Waffle House, Salvatore's and Hungry Howies. We can eat at Waffle House, and places like Salvatore's and have subs here! I want to go into some other places that serve steak and would love to go into Angelo's Steak Pit, Captain Anderson's and other restaurants that are popular down there but he has this thing about crowds and crowded places. More or less a phobia! Are there any places that are nice but not expensive and off the beaten path that are not overrun with people like Angelo's Steak Pit and all the other hot spots? We miss out on a lot down there. If they have more than 5 or 10 people in them I can forget eating there. Thanks.

Zaxby's!! :D

For some reason it's hardly ever packed. I guess most people go through the drive through window. However, since they are not "fast" food, I don't like sitting there idling and wasting gas that long.

Also, if you drive over to Panama City (note, that's Panama CITY, not Panama CITY BEACH) you'll find some less crowded resuraunts. All around less "touristy".

Both Captain Anderson's and the Boatyard overlook the water... and there's Schooners, which is on the beach... oh yeah, and there's Hooks which sits on the lagoon... grab a frozen drink and watch the boats come in..... Try the Hook. :D

Depending on the time of year you go down and what time, this will be our 6 year down there, we usually go around 4-5 anything after that you can almost bet you are going to have a wait. Especially in the summer. Now we went in May one year and it wasn't so bad. But Keep trying they are worth the wait.

It probably depends on the time of year too. Late August or September after Labor Day would make a big difference.
Beachgoddess - you are so right about Saltwater Grille Food there is excellent!....and they serve "prime" beef, so their steaks are delicious!

They do a great business but you don't get the claustrophobic feeling that you do in the more touristy places. Very nice atmosphere and music (sometimes piano player and sometime nice little trio). I really like it.

Louie's is on Back Beach road(98) west of Hwy 79. They have good weekday lunch specials for $6.95 usually. Go after 1 and will not be crowded. This is a locals place and gets busy at 11.
They opened another place across the hathaway Bridge from Gulf Coast College. They have music on weekends also.
Great owners!!!!!!!!
