Just went to Pompanos for sushi last night and felt ripped off. Prices were a little above average (that's expected here) but what I didn't expect was the miniscule pieces of fish that were being doled out by the all Caucasian staff. To add insult to injury, they charge you 50 cents for a refill of your soda. I also noticed additional charges on the menu for extra ginger, wasabi, and the like…are they kidding? It’s like charging extra for salt, pepper, or ketchup.
The fish was fresh and tasted fine, but if your tastes are pretty average, you can get almost the same thing in abundance at the all you can eat Chinese buffets around town for less than $10.00. |

Man, I just gotta say we had a great meal at Pompano's last weekend. We took the moms out for Mother's Day and had a great experience. We were told it would be a 45 min wait for 6 of us and it ended up being 30 mins.
Our waiter (Edward, I think) was attentive and helpful. Service was spot on. We didn't get any sushi this time, but the other food was great. I had the Cajun Grill (mahi and shrimp) and it was very good. I tasted a couple of the other dishes and they were great, too. We had Oysters Rockefeller and fried mozzarella for apps. Desert was huge - we shared a piece of Red Velvet Cake and a piece of Chocolate Cake betwen 6 of us. The prices may be a little higher than average for comparable places in PCB, but it was worth it since we got good food and service. If it was a poor service or not-so-good food, it would've been an expensive disappointment. Our bill for 4 adults and 2 kids was $160. But, bottom line is we'll be back for more this summer. Next time we'll definitely try the sushi bar. Sorry you guys have had bad expereinces at Pompano's. My reveiw probably seems biased since they advertise with us, but I have no problem being honest when reviewing businesses. If there are areas that need improvement, I always mention it (constructively, of course). I think it's way more important to be honest with our visitors and let the businesses sort out their problems on their own. |
