Oysters?
I remember when you used to be able to get fresh, ice cold oysters for $1.99 a dozen
and they were really good. Now I see most places are $5.99 . Are there any places still left that serve the $1.99 fresh oysters?

Ok, so I will give up my $1.99 oyster dream
Where is the best value to get good oysters. And another question....am I going to have to bring my own green tobasco sauce again this year? I couldn't find it at any of the restruants last year.

Rustlers Reef (23rd steet) and Capt's Table (St. Andrew's) always have good oysters.
They're both in town (across the bridge) but if you venture that way, it'd be worth stopping by. I highly recommend Capt's Table for lunch or dinner as well. The seafood is as good as good as it gets, but without the high prices you pay at other places. Try Boon Docks on HWY 79, too. Very good seafood and very reasonable prices. Try the "Bay Scallops" grilled or fried! Last edited by swn5363; June-8th,2007 at 02:45 PM. |

I agree about Hunt's... I wasn't sure if they were open, though. They burned down a year or two ago, then moved to Downtown, then disappeared. I just heard they have reopened in St. Andrew's.
Also, Gene's Oyster Bar in Millville was great.... but, I haven't bee since I was a kid, so I'm not sure if they're still around. I'll try and find out. |

Hunt's is located in St Andrews near the Captians Table and Uncle Earnies. Just take Beck Ave to the right about 1 mile past the bridge.

Fresh ice cold OYSTERS !!
I found - Slippery Suckers - bar for the best oysters and $1.00 drafts,
both ice cold, happy hour only !!! Raw oysters are $3.99 a dozen. I think its on Back Beach Road (I'm new here) the same road that Applebees is on. |

It's actually on Middle Beach. We've been wondering about that place. Been open for a couple months now, but you're the first we've heard from that's been there. Tell us more! Good menu? Good bar?

No atmosphere but, I was only there on a Tuesday at 4:00 - so I only know the
oysters were great and the beer was cold and it was cheap. Works for me !!! I will definately go back. |

Oh, I forgot I did look at the menu... 1/2 doz. butter & garlic oysters $4.00.
They were serving lots of dinners, even that early. Everything looked good. But, still a neighborhood bar. I like the place !!! |

i went there about 4 days ago and i agree that the oysters were really good...granted I was there after happy hour so the oysters did cost like 4.99 for a dozen but still, nonetheless, they were good!!

Dusty's Oyster Bar has the best oysters, the best atmosphere and the fastest shuckers in the US. Hunts is good, Slippery Sucker is new but no history and Gene's has been here forever. But Dusty's is a whole experience.

the oysters, I had them once and they were dirty and left an after taste. My companion agreed. The place is lots of fun, and its an experience just to watch them shuck oysters when they are busy. I go there often.
