New in Town
I just moved here from California and am wondering about some great places to eat in Panama City/PCB area.
Seafood? Special Occasion? Sushi/Japanese? Pizza? Your comments are appreciated. This is where I've been so far, and these are my likes/dislikes so far! THE GOOD Bayou Bills-consistently good, fresh seafood. Casual environment and decent prices! Always have good experience here! The wait can be long some times. Pasta Grill-On the west end of Panama City Beach! It's a small place but it's comfortable. The staff is very friendly and the food is very good. It's not like every other Italian place, with heavy sauces and tons of oil and butter. They use local seafood (big portions) and toss them with delicious sauces and pasta. A little pricey for Italian...but the seafood portions are worth it. Antonio's Bakery-next to Pasta Grill. This reminds me of authentic Italian bakeries in New York. Everything is incredible. They have full cakes/pies, and smaller bit size pastries. Great for a birthday or parties, or if you have a sweet tooth! Sonny's-Cheap, fast, tons of food, and tasty! The salad bar is the best part! Good if your hungry and want something cheap. THE BAD Capt. Anderson's- Not as great as everyone says! When you think the wait is over, they just put you in another line. Bread was horrible. Everything was deep fried. One of us had the crab pot pie. It might as well have been a container of cream cheese. GROSS! Grilled fish wasn't that tasty and it was expensive. It will be a while before I go back. Scampy's-We waited forever, the servers were rude and disappeared forever. Everything was covered in oil and butter. Sloppy and didn't taste very good! Skip on Scampy's!!! |

I haven't eaten at any of the "Good" establishments that you list here, so I can't comment. However, I have eaten at Capt. Anderson's several times & Scampy's once. Our meals at Capt. Anderson's have always been excellent (I usually get the grilled scamp & it's wonderful) My husband tries different things & he's never complained. We've never ordered anything deep-fried, so I don't know about that comment you made. Also, we've never had to wait more than 5 minutes for a table, but maybe that depends on when & what time you go.
I've only been to Scampy's once & I got the grilled mahi-mahi to go as a lunch special & it was good, too. Not oily or greasy & the sides were cooked just right & not overdone. Since I got my food to go, I can't comment on the wait staff except that the fellow who took my to go order was pleasant & I had didn't have to wait long. Sorry that you a bad experience & hopefully you will give them another chance. |

I thought Scampy's was pretty good, just a little over-priced.

Try Scampy's lunch specials. I got grilled mahi-mahi & 3 sides for $5.99. That was a year ago, so the price might be slightly higher now, but it was a lot of food for the price!

a good place pizza is the Spicy Noodle, located down 98 going towards destin and san destin. It has a great pizza and great spaghetti. Also, make sure you try their homemade garlic olive oil, it is free anyways. I would definately recommend this place.

Scampy's??
Always had good food at Scampy's. They have a seafood salad that is wonderful. Their steaks are usually good as well. They are really small, that does cause some problems. Sorry you had a bad meal.

We always liked scampy's. It is a little pricey, but very good.

Hey Xi Bowhunter, I forgot to ask you if you ever got your Margarita from a roadside stand the last time you were down! Was Snooky's Margaritas & Scooter Rental still there?
