Thumbs up

Hunt's Oyster Bar ROCKS!!!! You will love it. It is very inexpensive. Extremely good food. Down home cooking atmosphere. Best oysters in Panama City...and St Andrews Marina is very pretty too!!!!

Hunts is the best oysterbar in the world man! They got the best oysters and the place is just too cool. There's usually a line out the door and even in teh new building they can't seat everyone. Its cool and down-home and REAL Panhandle people!

Thumbs up The new and improved Hunt's

The new Hunt's location is bigger (and thank god, cleaner) than the old location, and it really is a slice out of the history of Old Florida Oyster Bars. I love it, and we go there frequently. There are usually crowds waiting to get in, and it can get really filled with cigarette smoke.... lots of smokers like oysters, I guess.

Also very cool and not smokey - also packed is the place that moved in and cleaned up the old Hunt's location just down the Street. It's called the Capt's Table, and it is GREAT! Also got fresh shucked oysters, but also awesome grilled grouper sandwiches, fresh catfish and cheese grits... killer fried mullet! Love it! Awesome! Try it, too.

Time travel......

Man, I use to eat at Hunt's (old location) all the time. Oysters on the half shell grilled/steamed and with a little chesse on them (what was that ...parmesan?) and cheap food....especially important for a young diver........
this post brought back some memories....I'll have to try the new location next time I'm in town............

The wife and I ate at the Captains table a week ago Thursday. It was very very good! It's nothing fancy inside but the food sure was good. The grouper sandwich was just about the best grouper I think I've had on the Gulf. And the folks in there were really nice too!

I have to agree Ed! My wife and I went to the Capt.'s Table on Friday and the food was outstanding. I had the Char Grilled Grouper and like you said it was as good as any grouper I've had... tender, flaky and seasoned excellently.

My wife had 1/2 broiled flounder and 1/2 broiled shrimp... you guesed it, delicious. The place was crowded but the service was quick and attentive. This is just the kind of place we've needed in St. Andrews... it compliments St. Andrews Seafood, Hunts, and Ernies well.

Talking Good Reviews

I've been hearing nothing but good news about Mitch and the Capt's Table since my last post.

They are getting 'written up' everywhere - mostly about Grouper Throats... (they are GOOD).

I've been on the road. Can't wait to get back and treat myself to FRESH FRIED FLOUNDER and CHEESE GRITS!

Go Mitch!

Grouper throats?! I've never heard of that before. Sounds kind of scary. But what the heck I'll try any kind of seafood once!

So either Hunts or Capt Table is good huh? I'm no oyster eater, the kids love em though. Good tips I suppose we'll just have to flip a coin or try em both. We're going to be in town in November. Does anyone know if these places will be open then? I know the big beach restaurants seem to close before then.

Hunt's Oyster Bar

The first time I ate oysters at Hunts was in 1971, Mr Hunt shucked them himself. I still eat oysters there and they're just as good now as they were back then. Keep up the good work Randy!

Open Year 'round

Both the Captains Table and Hunt's are open year 'round. I haven't had the opportunity to try the Capt. Table, but after hearing all those reviews I'm there.

I know you can't go wrong with a grouper sandwich and a dozen naked oysters at Hunt's! ;)
