I am planning for a trip in September. I have already looked at the enormous list of restaurants and cant choose which ones to eat at. In your opinions what are the top 5 restaurants at PCB?

There are so many great places to go it's hard to choose. We usually try at least one new place each trip. Beside good food we look for laid-back places that are "mom and pop" shops. It seems every trip we visit Pineapple Willys, Capt. Andersons, and Boatyard. We plan on going back to Spinnakers next time because we are hearing so much good news about them. Last year we tried Pier 77 and we'll see them again. Schooners is always serving up good food and good times. Check out Margit Bisztray on Beach TV. She does some great reviews of the Emerald Coast restaurants.

Have you ever eaten at Montego Bay, Hammerhead Fred's, or Boondocks. I have heard some good stuff about them from some friends.

Never been to Montego Bay so I'm no help there. Been to Freds a few times since it was so close. The first time was really good but the next time we had little to no service and my food but not as good as before. As for Boondocks, we really looked forward to that meal but the service was bad and the food was worse. Knowing that anyone can have a bad day and based on the many positive comments here we will try Boondocks again.

There are so many great place to eat in PCB that it is a hard decision to make. I know that for me, I have to visit Pineapple Willys and Pomponos every time I am there. Those are my two favorites along with Schooners right behind. I have eaten at a lot of places and those are the ones that I keep going back to every time! For a little bit different menu, you could try the Calypso Beach Cafe. I enjoy that place if I am wanting something different. Most of all, enjoy yourself!

My Top 5 are:
Schooners Capt. Anderson's Boatyard Boondocks Capt's Table They're my faves cos I enjoy really fresh seafood and great service. The view at Schooners is second-to-none and Boatyard recently began serving sushi, which I enjoy. There are also many other restaurants I would recommend, including: Spinnaker's Paradise Grill (best burgers) Liza's Kitchen (great lunch and weekend brunch) Angelo's (great steaks) Casa De Fogo (Brazilian Steakhouse) Dee's Hangout (newly discovered - awesome poboys) Firefly (closest thing to fine dining in PCB) |

Since we always seek out the best in local chow we will be checking out Dee's and Firefly! Quick question- is there anything on either of these guys on Beach TV? Since we are hardly locals (yet) we have to reach out to grab all the info we can for ourselves and those of our friends who follow our lead. Thanks for throwing their names out on the forum!

Nothing on Beach TV about Dee's, but Chef Dee Brown owns and operates it. Chef Dee has been cooking up great food in PCB for many years. In fact, you've probably enjoyed some of his food already. Most recently, he was executive chef at Treasure Ship. And, if you've had any of the local restaurants' smoked tuna dip, you probably enjoyed Chef Dee's recipe. Cardena's Seafood is also making great smoked tuna dip as well... and most restaurants get it from either Chef Dee or Cardena's. Website is deeshangout.com.
Firefly has some Chef Show cooking videos running on Tripsmarter... and I believe they do have a spot on Beach TV, but no commercial spot on Tripsmarter as of right now. Firefly opened up shortly after Canopies closed (my favorite restaurant in PCB... ever!) and much of the staff (incl. management, kitchen and servers) joined the staff at Firefly. You'll even see a few of Canopies dishes on the menu. They also have the "Canopies" room for private dining. Their website is fireflypcb.com. Both places are highly recommended! We sent a week in April in Panama City Beach. Our two favorite places to eat are Angelo's for steaks and Pier 77 for good cheap food. We usually eat at these two places more then once while we are there. We usually get crab claws at Angelo's. They are really good. We also eat at Bayou Bill's Crab House for crab legs. The meat always comes out very easy, which means they know what they are doing, but they are more expensive then anyone else. We also tried Boondocks again. We have had good and bad experiences here and decided we would try it again, since we had not been there in awhile. I must say we will be going back next time we are in PCB. The food was fantastic and the service was some of the best we had. It is a pretty neat place to go also. Pompanos is a bit pricey, but the food and service is really good. We usually eat at Montego Bay or Scampys for lunch on the first day down or on the way home. They both have lunch specials. Calypsos is not bad either for lunch or supper. All of these places have websites except Scampys. Just do a google search. Also there are discount certificates on this site for some places. You can even pick them up once you get to PCB. Now I am ready to go to PCB to eat. Have a great trip.
