We have stayed at the Edgewater for years and love the whole location and grounds that it is on. The pool is the #1 thing that is the best and the location. You do feel secure there with the security too.
I just have a problem in the past couple years that the condos are NOT BEING KEPT UP or updated like they should and for the money $$$ you pay to stay there!!
If you go to a hotel, they replace their mattresses every so many years! I would expect my mattress to not be sagging in the middle and when they say everything is working, I expect it for what I pay!
Don't get me wrong, I love the Edgewater, but they seriously need to UPDATE all the units. I know some are individually owned and even most of those have not been updated with the furniture and bedding.
I am now looking at some of the newer condos to stay at, which I really hate because of staying at the Edgewater for so many years, and love the beach/pool/location, but I cannot spend my money at a place that won't take care of their facility, which is mainly the rooms!!

I'd love to hear about anyone else's recent stay at the Edgewater and if the room has been updated.
Are there any places that are similar to the pool at Edgewater to stay at that are new? Thanks!
(By the way, I'm from Indiana).

Mrs Peel will become famous soon enough
We rented through an owner instead of the rental office for our stay in November. The unit was very nice & the owner had just put in new bedroom furniture & we were the first to stay there after redecorating. We were very pleased with not only the unit but Edgewater in general. We had a bad experience the last time we stayed there, but from now on, I think renting from an owner is the way to go. That way you get an idea of what your unit will look & have (hopefully) a responsible owner who will make things right if they are not. We went through VRBO.com this time.

nanindy, I have stayed in the most beautiful condo at Edgewater!! You should completely request from edgewater reservation , winnward 307! The owners bought this unit when the building was still under construction 25 years ago. Last March the owners spent over 40,000 dollars in updates. It is a 2 bedroom directly on the beach. I know this because the owners are my wonderful parents! My father is a semi-retired builder in the St. louis area, and my mother is an award winning designer. There really wasnt a money cap placed on the re-design. After the project was complete, Edgewater awarded mom and dad with the most elegant unit award! It is important you know that when making reservations with edgewater that a unit such as my parents cost the same as that of a unit not updated in 20 years, so put in a request when planning your trip! My wife and 4 little ones will be there may 18 through the 25th and cannot wait. It really is wonderful!!

Edgewater is truly a gem! Unit W307 is the most elegant unit you can rent. Defently ask for it when making reservations!

I would love to stay there but I don't think they can guarantee that unit to me unless it was through some private rental.
How can I get this unit---you have to go through the Edgewater?
Sounds wonderful. I've stayed in the Windward & Leeward and really like those better than the Towers.
Thanks much for the info!

**Again, alot of the units at the Edgewater need updating unless they did it this past year** or you find some from individual owners. It also is my favorite place but not when the mattress is sagging to the floor!

Yes, you just call edgewater and simply ask for windward 307. It is rented through edgewater. They will be more than happy to place you in a unit that you request. They can only make units available to you that are not listed through private rental companies. Remember edgewater wants your business and should be happy to place you in a unit you request. If you just call and make a reservation they could put you in a unit that the owner doesnt really properly maintain. But if you know the good units, then ask for them when you call! Edgewater cannot make owners do any upgrades to units. Each unit at edgewater is privatley owned. Edgewater has strict standers that they ask all owners to go by but not all owners listen so well, and if they are busy they will put you in a unit not as nice as others just to get your business! So asking for a unit such as my parents, puts you in the finest condo on the beach!!

Thanks for the tip about your parents' Edgewater unit. I bet it becomes very popular now...

We're big fans of Edgewater and recommend them anytime we can. Great resort and getting better all the time.

Mercedes...how much does that condo cost for a week? Can you pm me and let me know so they don't give me the wrong info. I'm going to call this week and see if it's available when we are planning on going. Are there any pictures I can see of the inside of the condo? :)
Anyone else know of a condo that is awesome like this one if it's not available?
Thank you very much!!

We prefer staying in the Leeward or Windward buildings. It doesn't seem like there are very many places left on the beach where you are truly "on the beach" & not looking down at a pool or something. I'd love to hear more about W-307. How many bedrooms? If it's a 1 bedroom, is it an "A" floor plan or "B"?

We ended up renting a condo at the Leeward through a place called Joni's rentals. They happened to have a new unit in their listings on the 6th floor. I didn't know if this unit in Windward was a 1 or 2 bedroom. We will be at the Edgewater the week of June 16. I hope I can rent the 304 in the future though.

Icon13 uh, no!

I did not like Edgewater. I booked a long weekend online and the people at the desk were not nice. The place is dated and run down. Ew! It is not even on a good part of the beach. They charged us 50 dollars extra because we did not check out by check out time, even though no one ever told us what check out time was! Try staying somewhere else and you will see... I stayed at Seychelles and it is awesome!

I think Nanindy may be correct in what is said about requesting a unit from Edgewater in itself. I DO NOT THINK YOU CAN DO THAT. If you are on the rental program, Edgewater has to be fair and rent as "their" turn comes around. I do not think guests can call edgewater and request a certain unit, therefore bypass someone who is next in line to get the rental that edgewater secures through the rental program.

I would bet that the only way you can rent a certain unit is to rent from the owner themselves and being on the rental program does not allow that.
