Joni's beach rental is a JOKE

we just returned from our vacation at panama and rented from a little place called joni's beach rental, and were stuck in a dump and when asked to change was told we could forget it, that, we got what we paid for.

We paid a lot so I didn't understand that concept and intend to report them to the better business bureu if not refunded.

candygoingtopcb, was was the address of the place you rented? I am on their website now! Was it a beach house or in one of the hi rises? The one beach house I see looks nice and as for the hi rises, well, everyone of them looks fancy down there. And I see what you mean by their prices!

Isn't that one of the new resorts??? Sorry things didn't work out so well for you where that was concerned. We stay only one place and rent it from an individual at Inlet Beach, a townhouse. The beach house on Lagoon Drive was very nice and probably not too bad a price for that place. But that was a extra nice beach house. Checked the rate for that place you were in the week we would be going. $779.00 for the week, $150.00 deposit, $55.00 cleaning fee, and around $88.00 tax. Whew. And it looks really nice though. Hope you get things straightened out.

Well, the place isn't that bad as far as how it looks. Its built nice and all, but, the beachside pool was shaded when it was open which was only 3 days out of the 7 we were there, but, some people may like a shaded pool. I didn't because it was too cold. We stayed at Long beach resort the last 2 years, and their pool is cold, but this one is so cold you can hardly stand it. Maybe because the 2 buildings on each side of it are so high they completly block off the sun. You can swim across the street at their pool, but, when I go to the beach I prefer a beachside pool. You can't even see the beach from the pool across the street so If you're going to use that one, you might as well stay where you live and swim.
I was expecting the beachside pool because on Joni's website it says the celedon has a beachside pool listed in the ammenities and doesn't say a thing about it being closed. To me that's false advertising. If I hadn't of rented from Joni's beach rental we may of gotton a better room and I think resortquest would of probably put us in a room where they had already fixed any standing problems. Don't think I would stay there again tho, because of the dead birds we had to see and smell and I didn't care for their pool. I have kids and the pool is one thing that is Important.

Also the people staying there were a bit on the "redneck" side, and I grew up in Alabama and they were still a bit too "redneckish" for me! Their were babies in nasty diapers jumping in the jacuzzi and bologna and bread all over the pool area. It was just nasty to say the least.

candygoingtopcb,

First, let me say I completely empathize with you and your trip experience. It's not cheap to vacation on the beach, and it should be everything you expect.

Now that that's out of the way, I have to comment on your post. I had a giggling fit when I read it, and that's not to say I was at all laughing at you. You kind of lead with this shady pool thing, which really doesn't set the reader up for what's coming next.

I think I would have led with the "bologna and bread in the pool" and the "smell of dead birds" (I'd love to know that story!) first...

Thanks for sharing your story, and good luck.

haha, you're right. The bologna and bread at the pool came on our last day before leaving, so, we were really more concerned with getting a tan at this point, so, I guess the shaded pool thing came to mind first. LOL.

LOL!!! And I was just trying to explain to the sowallers that PCB isn't that redneck! Oh well, you get a little of that element anywhere you go... except for the beaches of SoWal! I think!

Yes, I would like to know about the birds as well. If you find out, let me know! All I know about them is they were dead. and smelly.

haha on the redneck thing! I was thinking more of it being people with not one ounce of respect for any other human, but thats just my thought on what I saw. They probably rented through Joni's and that's how she stays in business, because people like that actually like what she has.

ps. Even after they cleaned that one up after it lay there all week next to the pool across the street, there was still a spot where it lay. If you want to, you can go through there and see it! It's probably still there. It's under that catwalk where you come from the p garage to go to the pool right there where people walk.

Yeah, I'm feelin ya on that. I should clarify my remark and say that certain element is trash... not redneck. I know plenty of rednecks with class. I might be one (a redneck that is... not sure if I have class?). I've certainly been called redneck enough times.

hahaha!!! I grew up in Alabama and know PLENTY of rednecks, good and bad. There is a fine line between good old boy and redneck LOL.

Now, I live near Atlanta and sometimes I feel like a redneck compared to the people living here, but, I can control my child. :)
