Grand Cayman (Seawitch)

wanted to give a report of where i stayed over the 4th. Grand Cayman (formerly known as SeaWitch Motel) was a disapointment to say the least. Years ago i have stayed here with very little problems. It was sold and SUPPOSEDLY is suppose to be torn down for condo. Now with that said, i checked into my room to see the floor had been damaged with a iron. the fridge was leaking all over the floor. The walls appeared to have been painted over mold. Knowing i could not find another place, i decided to just live with where i chose. Went to pool to find 20 out of about 28 pool chairs busted or cracked. Pool had massive amounts of hair floating on pool bottom. Never once seen management test the water samples. The second day a man sat in one of the chairs and fell straight through to concrete. Amazingly he was not hurt but highly emabarrased. I went to management at this time and complained that someone will own the dump from law suits if they dont take a little bit better care of the place. The grounds were not mowed and all weedy. So my advise to anyone is STAY AWAY!! I got a discounted rate somehow, but i was in office when someone called to check rates. They quoted 180/night for that dump? The brand new condo';s along the beach is cheaper than that in places. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME THERE.

I couldn't agree more!!!! We went in April with some friends and I let them make the reservations. I will NOT do that again!!! (We always stay at the Mariner West on Thomas Drive and love it.) Anyway, they chose Grand Cayman because they had stayed there before (just last year) and said it was very nice. If that is what they consider nice, I feel sorry for them. My first complaint was how far down it was on Front Beach Rd....not close to anything....and the room left a lot to be desired. Nothing was leaking thank goodness, but it looked and smelled dirty. I'm just not used to staying in a place like that. Luckily, I only had to endure 2 nights there. From now on, if we're going with friends.....I'll make the reservations.

Right choice

You made a wise choice. The friends that were there stayed longer than i did and an inspector came out and got the owners attention on some things. Not sure what they were but maybe they will take care of some things to make it better there. I will not stay there again, THAT IS FOR SURE! I was only there to see some friends of ours. Thought maybe staying at the same place would be better. I got a rate of 99 bucks while others were paying 150-180/night. We got a military rate but that is so wrong to charge someone else that much higher of rate for a Holiday weekend. I would never pay that kind of money for a motel on the beach. Only way i would pay that is if it were a condo and then has to be beach front views. PC is not what it use to be that is for sure.

I wouldn't mind giving Mexico Beach a try sometime as to lodging! We drove over there 3 years ago and I liked the look of it. No hi rises, mom and pop hotels. Of course, would still have to come to PC Beach to do our waverunning and other things. But it was pretty!
