Beware Emerald Beach
This a major disaster now and when compled only a business retreat. The rooms are small and balcony tiny and a mudhole size pool. Do not be mislead by so called major discounts. They try and suck you in with a flashy lobby and skimp on the the beachside part of the resort. I see some real deals at other new conds that I have stayed at. If you are mad at your spouse and want to have a really BAD vacation stay here. YOu will always remember your WORST VACATION EVER

Emerald Beach is a new resort about 1 mile east of Pier Park or just east of Sharky's. This is not a good value for lor your money evern when completed. They should not have let them build a convention center on the beach. It really degrades the beach area for people who come for the beach.

Different strokes for different folks I guess. I have a friend that just returned from PCB and stayed at Emerald Beach and she loved it. The pictures I saw of her condo were beautiful, and the balcony wasn't tiny at all and the pool didn't look all that small either. The only thing she said she didn't like was the color of the outside of the condo.

Some rooms are better I am sure and she probable stayed in a 3 bedroom the balcony is a lot bigger. But for a 25 story condo unit compared to Edgewater and Long Beach and Sunrise Beach. The pool and balcony is alot smaller at Emerald Beach. Why stay at Emerald Beach whem for the same money or less you can stay at the other condos and have more room and a better pool and not have to drag your bags 2 miles to your room. I have been there and stayed and does not compare to the others in value.

Emerald Beach Substandard
Anyone who has stayed at Emerald Beach and the other 5 Star rated condos like Long Beach and Edgewater will agree that Emerald Beach is not up to the quality of the other condos. It is not fair to mislead people into spending money for less quality than the other resorts. Great for business meetings but short on beach vacation quality for the family. Absolutley no comparison to to other resorts. SUBSTANDARD

We just got back from PCB and did stay at the Edgewater Leeward Towers, Floor 6. I love the grounds of the Edgewater and the pool/beach area, but the condos are just outdated!! Most of them (at least the ones I have stayed in recently) have older beds and furnishings. They don't even have internet available in the rooms!
I don't like staying on an old bed but the location and everything else was alright. I just want to find another condo that has a great pool and beach like the Edgewater has. I don't want to park in a big parking garage and have to drive up and around to park! I like having parking in a lot a little closer to the door of the condo. We drove past the Majestic Beach Resort which is close to the Long Beach and the traffic of cars to check in were lined up way on the street and they couldn't even get in to do just that!! They all looked pissed. I see that the Pier Park area is a ways from being done so it might be a year or so until that area is actually done. The Calypso looked nice from the street. We did have beautiful weather up until yesterday when it got a little too hot for me! Loved the beach, food and shopping! |

We usually stay either at Edgewater in the Leeward bldg. or at Long Beach. We've had both good & bad experiences staying at Edgewater, but since we started renting from owners, we haven't had any problems. New owners are starting to update the units & some are truly beautiful! I guess the main reason we stay at Edgewater most of the time is that we spent our honeymoon there, so it's a sentimental favorite. There are very few condos left where you are truly on the beach (like the Leeward & Windward bldgs) and not looking out at a pool or patio with a million chairs on it. I like being on the sand!
As far as internet goes, some of the units have it & some don't. Personally, when I'm on vacation, I want to get as far away from technology as possible; give me sand & a margarita! It'll all be there waiting for me when I get back! The last time we were down there, every time we went past Majestic Beach Resort, there was a line of cars too! Yikes! |

The Sunrise Beach is a great place to stay. It has a pool deck on the 5th floor and gives you a real great view. The have 2 pools and some rain tree's for the kids. This is a very well managed condo and all the rooms are good except for one or two. Look for owners who provied free beach service or have beach chairs and umbrellas that you can use at the condo. I like the small things like that and beach toys for the kids to use.

I don't know that I'm an I.U. fan, exactly. I'm always happy when they win a sporting event, but I don't go to any games or watch them on TV. They are the largest employer in Bloomington though and my mother retired from there, so I'm glad they're here. But I'm also glad when summer comes & most of the students leave; there's plenty of parking & no wait for a table at restaurants!
