Rent from owner

Does anyone know of a "rent from the owner" website for PCB besides VRBO that has listings for most of the rentals in that area?

Looks like renting from the owner is quickly becoming the popular way to go...

renting from owner

I have been doing this for 5 yrs now and will never go back to hotels or cold calling condo's. Owners are eager to rent their units and with the market these days, you can really luck out on some good deals. I sure did!!!

I dont think i have stayed in the same condo twice though. But this unit i have for June i may just be a repeat customer. She is such a nice lady and i dont think i would ever get a deal like this any where else. It is not beach front or view, but i am a frequent customer of the state park and think that is the prettiest place to go for sunning and fun. Yes i would love to wake up and look out over that gorgeous gulf. But $ signs keep me from doing that.

I will be back at the beach Wednesday night and stay til the 1st of July. So you locals order me up some sun please.

Thanks for the info, Alabamabeachlover! I know what you mean about renting from owners. I've had a couple of bad experiences dealing with condo office rentals, but the owners that we've rented from were terrific and we were never disappointed.
Hope you have a great vacation, I'm jealous! Looks like we won't be down there until November.
When you get back, give us a report on the Shuckums new oyster bar!

We rented a beach house one year right on the gulf, only to drive 11-12 hours , get there and find out it was being renovated! We couldn't even stay there, and the owner tried to put us up in another beach house that was practically falling down! We packed our things, demanded our deposit back, and went to the Regency Towers. We have stayed there every year ever since.

The only thing with renting from owners is a lot of them want payment up front when you haven't even seen the place. If you send a check and end up getting a dump when you get there, what do you do?? Just like that one person said on here......they got there and it was being renovated and not suitable to stay in. I think some people have different likings than others or are used to a certain way.
I almost rented from an owner but they didn't accept a major credit card. I prefer to use my credit card when paying for a rental.

Personally, I would strongly suggest renting from an owner. Yes, they do require you to pay prior to getting there and you are "stuck", but most owners want repeat business so they have nothing to win by scamming you and sticking you in a dump. Owners gernally care for their unit and take good care of it. Another positive, most owners give you 25% to 30% off what you would pay by going through the resort itself. Everyone may not do this, but I suggest only deal with the ones that do.

Another good website is:

www.a1vacations.com

We typically rent a house each year in Inlet or Seacrest Beach in Walton County (between Panama City & Destin).
