We are considering buying a canopy to bring to the beach when we come down in a couple of weeks. My dilema is what is the best, slant leg or straight leg and do they need to be anchored down. Any information would be greatful.

I've seen both slant and straight leg on the beach and both look like they work fine.
Definitely anchor them down... or at least tie each leg down to something heavy (drink cooler, etc). Never know when one of those offshore gusts of wind will blow in. In this heat, you'll be praying for wind!
Thanks for the info.
I have one with straight legs that works just fine. If it's windy just tie some small twine at each corner and hang a bag of sand from each. I've since gotten one of those 7 foot umbrellas as they are much lighter. In fact, two of those are still a lot lighter than a canopy. Just a thought.
