I was in Key West last month and as usual, I dropped by BO's fish wagon and got myself a square grouper sandwich a couple of time. I always make that one of my stops and as he brags, it is still the best square grouper I've ever eaten. Drop by and get yourself some.
Also on of my stops was Dante's. Boy was I surprised. I wasn't surprised by the professionalism and the friendly staff. I expected that because I've been there before and I was not surprised by the beautiful food I saw passing by me on its way to other customers. I don't usually expect a beach club atmosphere to deliver great food. I consider it to be an oxymoron. But I was hot, tired, and hungry so I looked at the menu and took a chance on the salmon blackened fish and black beans with rice. WOW! It was so good that I went back a couple of days later and ordered it again. Put that together with the view of the huge pool and the beautiful people (you know what I mean) gathered around and in it, and you got yourself a perfect margarita setting. Oh, that was good too.
Since I was having such good luck, I decided to walk to dinner another evening and found myself at the Schooner Wharf bar. I chose a seat at the bar since I was alone and ordered from the menu while I sipped on a screwdriver...a very good one I must add. To my surprise I found myself captured by the female soloist sitting and singing while strumming her guitar. Her voice was incredible and her stage presence was hard to ignore. And I don't even normally listen to that kind of music. But as if she was psychic she began to play the blues. i was trapped and stayed and listened much longer than I has originally planned.
