    Lobsterfest Sept 15-18... at Schooners

Last year they started putting the band stage down on the beach, and it's awesome... so the bands start early and play all day long, and then when the sunsets, they move to the little stage inside, and everybody keeps dancin!

Check out the Lobster menu at www.schooners.com - and the band schedule.

We're taking the boat out there early Saturday to find a good anchor spot - then we paddle in to get platters of lobster and beer... then, we paddle back out to sit in our 'front row seats' and watch the action... awesome!

What an incredible weekend! Schooners Lobster Festival!

Unbelievable weather - the gulf was so calm - like a mirror and the water was so clear and aquamarine - we anchored off shore and watched the action from the boat - went ashore for lobster feasting and cocktails - floated in the water with our tubes and generally acted like kids again!
SO AWESOME!!! If you have never made Lobster Festival and seen the giant lobster weigh-ins, you gotta be at Schooners next year for this amazing event.

We did a fly over of Lobster Fest at Schooners at about 2:15 mark in the first clip and again around the 4 minute mark in the second clip. This was on Sunday around 11:am and by the time we returned to Schooners after the flight, we had to park on a back street. Within an hour there were about 4 or 5 times as many people as in the video

What are the rules for boats anchoring off the beach? Is there a certain distance you must be away from the beach? Can you drink on the water?

Ive always wondered this. Every year I see boats anchored a few hundred yards off the beach and it looks fun!

I don't think there are any rules for anchoring (someone else will have to confirm)... but you have to be idle speed or slower within 100 yards of the shoreline. Some of the bigger boats don't come too close to the shore because they can't get past the sandbar... depending on the tide.
