The Bard Blends with the Big Easy
Shakespearean Jazz Show Comes to New Orleans for a Limited Run!
This original, new show features a talented ensemble of musicians, singers, artists, puppeteers, and dancers from Boston's Emerson College and Berklee College of Music. The Nine Worthies is the name of the band (inspired from Shakespeare's Love's Labor's Lost) and the ensemble works together to provide an unforgettable parade of Shakespearean sonnets and scenes set to original songs in the style of New Orleans jazz.
The Shakespearean Jazz Show was conceived by New Orleans Native, Alex Ates, with the help of Patrick Greeley, the group's composer and musical director.
"The idea was born out of the French Quarter," comments Ates. "As a kid that is where I saw some of the most amazing performers of my life. I remember watching them and thinking: 'I wish I could act that way.
