    Cool July 26-27

I am bringing my family to Atlanta on 7/26 and leaving early on 7/28. We are attending a Braves game the afternoon of 7/27. I am looking for suggestions on where to stay and other things to do. I have an 8 yr old boy and 10 yr old girl and want to make the most of our short visit.

I have stayed near the airport during my previous visits to Atlanta alone for work. Is downtown nice and a good place top stay or should I be looking at Buckhead? I amopen to any and all suggestions and wish to firm up our travel plan.

More info on much of what I mention can be found on this web site or www.atlanta.com

I would recommend Midtown which is directly north of downtown. Downtown is more business oriented and parking can be more difficult. Buckhead is a good choice if you want to do a lot of shopping and want to be near Lenox and Phipps. Atlanta has traffic so it's best to be near what you are doing and there is not much to do around the airport, but catch a plane.

I'm not sure what you are looking for in a hotel however there is a listing on this site, however it is not by area yet ...sorry. Most nationals are in midtown Four Seasons, Courtyard, marriott suites, Fairfields, Hampton Inn, Residence Inn, Sheraton Colony square, and Georgian Terrace(cast of Gone With The Wind stayed there)

Some family things to see are:

Scitrek - Science and technology museum for children and adults
    on Piedmont

CNN center - has tours and is interesting call or as your conceirge about tickets they do sell out

Turner Field has tours since you like baseball

Fernbank museum- Imax theatre, large dinosaurs and lot of things for the family

Carter Center for the politically inclinded

Six Flags of Georgia or Stone Mountain- maybe if you had more time

Look for The Atlanta Channel in your room it is all about Atlanta and has restaurant reviews too. It supports this web site for visitors so if you like it let the front desk know.

    Enjoy yourselves

Don't let the educational aspect of Scitrek fool you, it is more fun than it sounds. It's very hands-on and kids especially seem to love it. I doubt you will have time for Six Flags but if you're looking to fill a whole day it's the way to go.

There's a park near where we stayed were we rollerbladed. Very fun and in a really neat setting. I just can't recall the name of the park though. Ask around, there are a lot of things like that to do too.
