Orchid Daze: Hanging Gardens
Atlanta, GA -
Babylon meets Midtown with Orchid Daze 2012 highlighting dramatic hanging gardens cascading with lush, fragrant beauty.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of both the Orchid Daze exhibition and the Fuqua Orchid Center, home to the largest collection of species orchids in the United States.
Imagine entering a fantasy world where sapphire vanda orchids, amethyst pansy orchids (Miltoniopsis) and amber slipper orchids (Paphiopedilum) shimmer at eye level and where moth orchids (Phalaenopsis) and Dendrobium float overhead. Explore a fragrant tapestry of richly-colored pansy orchids hanging in the Fuqua Conservatory lobby. Browse the contents of a stunning “floating” orchid jewel box with a dazzling array of jewel-toned vandas. Marvel at fanciful clouds of moth orchids.
“There is no better place for escaping the cold, gray winter doldrums in Atlanta than at Orchid Daze,” said Mary Pat Matheson, the Garden’s Executive Director. “This year’s celebration promises to be quite an exotic spectacle that will leave our guests in awe.”
