Atlanta, GA -
Most of us know Atlanta as a business commerce destination and a great convention city, but if you are planning a trip to Atlanta, bring the family along. Atlanta is a perfect family destination. In addition to the better known such as the Georgia Aquarium, World of Coca-Cola and Six Flags Over Georgia, there are a plethora of things to do in Atlanta that are easy on the wallet and BIG on fun. Nowadays cheap is chic, so here's a list of things to do with the kids in Atlanta -- while stretching that dollar.

Summer in the City

In addition to the better known such as the Georgia Aquarium, World of Coca-Cola and Six Flags Over Georgia, there are a plethora of things to do in Atlanta that are easy on the wallet and BIG on fun.

Center For the Puppetry Arts Museum offers a variety of world-class puppet shows and a fantastic museum of international puppets, including a recently acquired collection from Jim Henson. The Henson display includes Big Bird and Bert from Sesame Street, Kermit, the Swedish Chef from the Muppets, and Henson's creative creations from various commercials, TV shows and movies. The museum is FREE each Thursday from 1-3 pm.

Centennial Olympic Park Fountains of rings is the centerpiece of Centennial Olympic Park and one of the most recognized and photographed landmarks in Georgia. Bring a towel and change of clothes because no one can resist jumping from ring to ring between the shooting water. During select times a choreographed water show of lights, and music accompany the classics like the 1812 Overture or Under the Sea. Daily water shows are 12:30, 3:30, 6:30 and 9 pm. If that's not enough bring a picnic for Music at Noon on Tuesday or Thursday where you can enjoy locals playing Jazz, Pop, R&B, or International Sounds. Every Wednesday there's a FREE outdoor concert from 5:30 – 8 pm.

Imagine It! Atlanta's Children's Museum is a hands-on museum for the preschool and elementary school set. Who can resist a great interactive museum where your kids can express themselves on the paint wall, load balls into a kid sized crane and move it through a ball machine, or build sculptures in a kid-sized crane. Every second Tuesday of the month admission is FREE.

Movies and the Market every Thursday starting at 5 PM at Atlantic Station Market restaurant specials, and giveaways. Take your blankets and enjoy the FREE movie in Central Park at dusk.

Atlanta's City Pass makes it very affordable to visit the Georgia Aquarium, The World of Coca-Cola, Zoo Atlanta, CNN Worldwide, Fernbank Museum of Natural History, Atlanta History Center, Atlanta Botanical Gardens and the High Museum of Art.

Turn that business trip into a very affordable family vacation. See you at the movies! End of Article
