For the past ten years or so, I've chosen the dates for my October vacation based on the Bisbee's Black and Blue Fishing tournament that takes place in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico... it's one of the largest fishing tournaments in the world. Since I don't even fish, my friends have always thought my choice of vacations was a little strange….not the Cabo San Lucas part, but the fishing part.
I once played volleyball... a lot of volleyball! Even though I haven’t played in a VERY long time, watching volleyball is the next best thing... especially BEACH volleyball!
Emerald Coast Volleyball week begins on Wednesday, April 18 with final play on Sunday, April 22. Courts are set up on the beach all along the Boardwalk on Okaloosa Island on Fort Walton Beach.

I've only lived in Destin for a short time; so everyday I learn something or have a new and sometimes unexpected experience. Not having lived near water for several years, I find I most enjoy the events that take place at the water's edge. Now, many of you who live in Florida have attended various boat parades held in your area each year. As for me…who knew? I've never heard of such a thing.
Destin, FL is number 4 on Good Morning America's showcase of "10 Most Beautiful Places in America" for its miles and miles of seashore and sugar-white sand. Destin Commons however is still number one on everyone's list for the best shopping and entertainment complex on the planet. Designed and developed by Peter Bos, it's a Turnberry property now and is still as flawless as a brand new penny!
Okay, so I'm a newby to the area. I've never attended the Destin Seafood Festival. So, what do I know? Well, as far as I'm concerned you can't go wrong. Whenever you take a harbor lined with restaurants and booths selling fresh caught local seafood... add 15 music stages... add 15 Nashville songwriters... add entertainment for the kids and lots of arts and crafts vendors... then couple all of this with potentially the best weather you can have during the entire year in Destin...
Planning a vacation but hate leaving Fido behind? Well you may not have to if you are planning to visit Destin, FL.
