Okaloosa Island, FL -
Right down the road from the small fishing village of Destin, is breathtakingly beautiful Okaloosa Island. Once a year, this long, finger-shaped island, well known for its wonderful beaches and relaxing atmosphere, hosts a very unique race.

As the folks on the island see their summer tourist season coming to an end and Fall quickly approaching, hundreds of sailors gather at the small seaside town. They share one goal... to be the quickest... or the most colorful... or the happiest⦠or simply to be one of the lucky sailors who successfully circumnavigate the island.
Although the island is narrow enough that you can easily walk from North to South in less than 10 minutes, it is long and slender... making the race course slightly over 100 miles.
The race has been held every year, for over 20 years and draws spectators from around the globe⦠thousands watch the race from any available beach, bridge, dock or pier. Visitors and locals alike enjoy this aspect of the race - they can pick a favorite and root them on!
