The annual Crime Stoppers Fourth of July run and walk starts at 7:30am from Smathers Beach on South Roosevelt Boulevard.

A post-race party is sponsored by the Sheraton Suites Resort, directly across the street from Smathers Beach at 2001 S. Roosevelt Blvd. For entry forms or more information, contact race coordinator Barbara Wright at 305.296.7128.

The Hospice/Visiting Nurse Association of the Florida Keys hosts its annual picnic at the Wyndham Casa Marina, 1500 Reynolds St., from 5-9pm. Planned for the festive fundraiser are raffles, a silent auction and classic American barbecue.

Attendees will also enjoy one of the prime spots to view the fireworks show scheduled for approximately 9pm from nearby White Street Pier.

Big Pine/Lower Keys

Live music by 40 ft. Sharpie, food, cold beverages, games & activities for adults and kids are planned for this family-friendly event. Gates are set to open at 5 p.m. with sparkling fireworks at nightfall. Admission is free; no coolers, pets or personal fireworks allowed. Located at Sugarloaf Airport, MM 17 bayside on Sugarloaf Key, adjacent to the quirky Bat Tower.

Marathon Beach

Enjoy Independence Day at Marathon’s Sombrero Beach. Attractions include a 10:30 a.m. parade from Marathon High School to the beach, live music all day, food, fun, sun and a fireworks extravaganza at night. End of Article
