Key West, FL -
More than 10,000 motorcycles and riders from throughout the United States are expected to traverse the scenic Overseas Highway from mainland Florida to Key West, during the annual Key West Poker Run.

The event began in 1972 with 46 riders and has grown into a major fundraiser for South Florida charities. Phil Peterson of Harley-Davidson of Miami and the Key West Sunrise Rotary Club of the Conch Republic organize the ride, which splits proceeds between the Diabetes Research Institute and Sunrise Rotary's local charities and scholarships.
Biker registration for the event takes place at both of Peterson's Harley-Davidson Miami locations (17631 S. Dixie Highway and 19400 NW 2nd Ave.). Registration also is available on-line at harleymiami.com.
Upon registering and making a donation, each participating biker receives a poker sheet. Additional "poker hands" can be purchased, with no limit on the number of hands a person may play. Drivers of cars and trucks also can purchase poker hands and participate in the run from Miami to Key West.
