Schooner Wharf Battle of the Bars

Now is the time for all good men (and women) to come to the aid of their country…and bar.
Schooner Wharf Bar has prepared yet another strategic battle plan for this year’s Battle of the Bars. The plan of attack calls for troops to muster at noon on Sunday, August 1st for pre-battle games during registration. The battle begins promptly at 1 p.m., so get your teams ready for war.
The battle lines are drawn at the foot of William Street, and it’s time for veteran warriors to impart their wisdom to the newly enlisted.
Now is the time for all good men (and women) to come to the aid of their bar. Bartenders, servers and everyone else in the industry must prepare their battle strategy and round up a team of seven.
The highly competitive relay race involves mixing drinks, navigating an obstacle course, tapping a keg, recycling bottles and, of course, skillfully consuming alcohol.
Teams compete against the clock and each other for prizes and bragging rights. Everyone gets a Battle of the Bars T-shirt, and besides trophies and prizes for the fastest and most accurate teams, there are also awards for most outrageous team costume and deepest pockets. Sign up before July 23rd and your team name will be on the shirt. Entry fee is only $35.00.
All’s fair in love and war, especially in Key West, so judges can be bribed and all the money goes to charity. In the past, teams have found innovative ways of raising funds for bribes and for getting into the next round, and last year the total was a record-breaking $27,653 for the day.
The event has raised a grand total of $165,653 for charities, something you can be very proud of! This year’s proceeds will benefit Florida Keys SPCA and Easter Seals.
There will be drink specials throughout the day. The heat of battle, literally, brings everyone to the front lines in August!
