Those highly anticipated, succulent claws….brought to shore fresh daily from the waters surrounding the Florida Keys, soon will be dripping in mustard dip and quickly consumed by visitors and locals alike!
Key West is well known for its beautiful Victorian homes with wrap-around porches draped in gingerbread. "Eyebrow" houses cast a certain look and shotgun homes are often "arresting." Have you ever wondered what's inside? Of course, you have! Just like everyone else who visits town! And now it's not only possible to peek inside but get a glimpse of some tropical island Christmas decorations at the same time! It's an invitation that's impossible to refuse...
Key West, America's tiny little Caribbean island, has been associated with writers and literature since the 1920's. It was then that Ernest Hemingway first set foot on the island... and began a literary association with Key West that lasted for most of the rest of his life.
The Monroe County Commercial Fishermen Association doing business as the Florida Keys Commercial Fishermen, and the Monroe County Extension have partnered to host the Annual Florida Keys Seafood Festival at Bayview Park, Key West on January 16, 2010.
Hours for this family event are 11am until 9pm. The festival is free and open to the public. There will be entertainment, vendors, non profit organizations and fresh and local seafood from the Florida Keys commercial fishermen. The dinner menu will include lobster, fish, stone crab claws, conch chowder, conch fritters, and conch salad.
Key West is home to many fabulous events; the internationally famous Fantasy Fest, the Power Boat World Championship, a nationally recognized Songwriter's Festival, events targeted at the gay and lesbian communities and many smaller but no less significant events such as Hemingway Days, a Poker Run, and literary and poetry festivals.
Finally, Key West hosts an event to celebrate the culinary arts and the rich food and drink heritage found in the Florida Keys!
