Having Nothing to Do!

Myrtle Beach, SC -
Having “nothing to do” is a good thing to some and not so good to others…but if you’re looking for “something” to do, family-friendly Myrtle Beach is chock-full of recreational activities.

Having Nothing to Do!

You don't have to worry about salt water in your eyes or even sand in your bathing suit at the Ocean in Motion Wave Pool...20,000 square feet of clear, perfect waves every time…

First, it’s important to remember that golf isn't the ONLY thing to do though there are nearly 100 courses in the area, including the renowned Legends...but what about swimming, boating, fishing...or water skiing? Even a day spent on a jet-ski can be big-time FUN! Second, just about everything happens on the beachfront...it's the center of all the action and it just so happens that this wide strip of sand is next to a wide variety of other amusements: amusement parks, water parks, and eateries to name a few.

It's possible top ride the state's largest roller coaster at Family Kingdom, Myrtle Beach's most popular Amusement Park with over 30 fun-filled rides to choose from! The Sling-shot Drop Zone is the newest attraction and just about the only safe way to "freefall" 110-feet or so...and please…do that "before" lunch! The state's largest Ferris Wheel is also in the park along with a state of the art Log Flume, two Go-Kart tracks, bumper cars, and a historical carousel. There is an interactive laser ride called the Pistolero Round-Up and a miniature Locomotive winds its way through the park and under the massive roller coaster! For wholesome family fun, head (in mass) to the "Kingdom"!

Every red-blooded American kid is interested in sharks and the best way to check out real, live sharks is from the safety of a 330 foot glass tube walkway or "glidepath" at Ripley's Aquarium. Visitors are surrounded on all sides by menacing 10-foot sharks as they walk through Dangerous Reef... a 750,000 gallon tank. Other spectacular features at Ripley's include viewing a variety of "rays" from multiple viewing levels and Friendship Flats, where guests touch Atlantic and Southern Cow-Nose Rays and Bonnet-Head sharks. But wait...there's more at Rainbow Rock where guests have a stunning view of thousands of brilliantly colored Pacific fishes from Hawaii, Australia and the Indian Ocean through an acrylic window the size of two movie screens!

If the summer heat gets a little too hot for comfort...make a splash at Myrtle Waves, the wettest and wildest water park in South Carolina! You don't have to worry about salt water in your eyes or even sand in your bathing suit at the Ocean in Motion Wave Pool...20,000 square feet of clear, perfect waves every time…in fact, there are eight different kinds of waves for your enjoyment! You'll need to hold on tight at the world's tallest tubular slides, the Turbo Twisters. These completely enclosed dark tubes will send you spiraling down through darkness at an exhilarating 50 feet per second...not for the faint-of-heart! Or you can spend your day drifting lazily under the Carolina sun on the LayZee River at a slow moving 3 mph, perfect for all ages.

If you want to stay dry and out of the water, a stroll through the lush estate and impressive mansion of Brookgreen Gardens should be on everyone's summertime list ...or an exploration of the natural habitats of birds, crabs and other creatures at Huntington Beach State Park. When the sun goes down, Myrtle Beach enjoys a wide selection of restaurants, exciting nightclubs and live shows -- everything from musicals to country acts -- at any one of 13 wonderful theaters. Shoppers will enjoy Barefoot Landing, with more than 100 stores, and Broadway at the Beach. And if you don't feel like being active, it's fun just to sunbathe on the beach all day long. Sometimes, there's nothing better than having nothing to do! End of Article
