New Orleans, LA -
You can feel the excitement in the air; with every drop in humidity, the exhilaration of another fall sports season begins its steady rise. Football colors show up everywhere (especially in my office), you high five the guy in the parking lot in his basketball jersey and your heart starts that familiar "pound" as you realize it's that time of year again.

Grab Your Gear and Get on Down!

The New Orleans Saints are going in with the Number one Offense! Now it is up to the team to keep that title. Heck, why not shoot for the Number one Defense as well?

The New Orleans Saints have already kicked off their pre-season in style, thus far winning 3 of the 4 pre-season games. If you talk to old Saints fans (the ones with brown bags in their closet), this as a bad sign. They've been through too many years of watching the Saints win their pre-seasons, only to have injuries and any number of voodoo curses keep them down for the rest of the year. The newer Saints fans simply dismiss all the voodoo curses and have their eyes on the light... the light reflecting off the Lombardi Trophy, that is. But we look good- really good and it was exciting this summer to hear, "The New Orleans Saints are going in with the Number one Offense!" Now it is up to the team to keep that title. Heck, why not shoot for the Number one Defense as well? Our new Defensive Coordinator, Greg Williams, has already shown great improvement with the Saint Defense.

The New Orleans Saints also made some great trades and draft picks this year. My two stars to watch this year are running back, Mike Bell (formally of the Denver Broncos), and Rookie corner back, Malcolm Jenkins, from Ohio State. Watch for the two of them to make some great plays. We will always miss Deuce, but Bell will do him proud. I would be remiss if I didn't also mention our Number One Quarterback, Drew Brees! If Mr. Brees stays healthy, he's a sure bet for the record books this year... and then some! The Saints are even giving me every reason to think, "This will be the year!" As long as they keep on the positive track... it will! You can learn more about the Saints at neworleanssaints.com

Our New Orleans Hornets have their opening game on Friday, October 30, at the New Orleans Arena. A pep rally is already in the planning stages for what is sure to be a great season and a great Hornets basketball team. We can't forget the New Orleans Hornets made the play offs last year, and are planning to do it again. Unlike the Saints, the New Orleans Hornets are discounting group ticket prices for specific games. How much fun would it be to get a whole RV full of people for a little road trip down to New Orleans to catch a Hornets game... say November 4th against Dallas? Not only are they offering group package prices, but certain games get fun Hornet give away items as well. Check out nba.com/hornets/ for more information on a winning team!

New Orleans is more than just a great place to eat, drink and listen to live music... it's the thrill of professional football and basketball, too! Our high school and college teams are also well respected all over the country. Catch a Tulane game or stay in New Orleans on your way to an LSU game in Baton Rouge, and don't forget we host the New Orleans Bowl in December and the Sugar Bowl in January. The Super Bowl is coming back to New Orleans in January 2013, and it's never too early to start making plans for something that BIG! There's just no better place in the world than the Dome or the Arena to watch a game and be part of the crowd as it spills into the streets of New Orleans to celebrate... or bemoan... the outcome. It's awesome and if I sound excited... I AM! The season's just beginning, but time's a wastin'! So make plans now to catch one or two... or why not ALL of the games this fall in New Orleans. Just grab your team gear and get on down when you're ready to shout for the Saints and Hornets! End of Article
