Lofty Luxury in New Orleans

  Tell a Friend

New Orleans, LA -
We are not much for hang'n around in a hotel room when we travel for leisure, but in places like New Orleans the respite is a necessity. New Orleans plethora of accommodation choices runs the gamut from intimate historic boutique properties to name brand accommodations. Among our top five favorites is the Loews New Orleans. The original former Lykes Steamship Company Building was reclaimed by savvy designers and hoteliers, crafting a property with style and a perfect blend of amenities.

Lofty Luxury in New Orleans

When we first walked into our room at the Loews, our ‘stylish loft' dwarfed by comparison. By our standards the room was ‘huge' with commanding views of the River and Skyline, comfortable furnishings and inviting plush bedding.

Ever book a "spacious room" to discover you could not move from bed to bath without bruising your shins? We've lived in both New York and Chicago, in stylish (or we like to think so) one-room lofts. When we first walked into our room at the Loews, our ‘stylish loft' dwarfed by comparison. By our standards the room was ‘huge' with commanding views of the River and Skyline, comfortable furnishings and inviting plush bedding.

I did mention we don't hang around our hotel too often. But, at the Loews there's good reason to. One of our favorite dining establishments and bars is in-house. Café Adelaide's and the Swizzle Stick Bar inspired by a legendry New Orleans Brennan family member, "Aunt Adelaide". Her mantra, "eat'n, drink'n and carry'n on", guides the menu and the attitude. We are particularly fond of their version of Louisiana Shrimp and Grits and always try the seasonal special offerings of the day.

Bar Chef Lu Brow creates a menu of cocktails that rightly claims her title of one New Orleans Best Bartenders. If you haven't experienced the cocktail culture of the 50's, Lu Brow's mixology skills have rejuvenated the spirit of that era with a modern twist.

Working off the calories and the extravagance of the Big Easy is not overlooked when staying at the Loews. We can work it all off in the spacious well-equipped full service gym or lap pool, and then order up a Swizzle Stick or Side Car to sip in the sauna or at the spa.

In the heart of Central Business District, the location places guests within an easy saunter to the Arts Warehouse district, the Vieux Carre, Harrah's Casino and the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. So when you are satiated with eating, drinking and carrying – on, make your way to lounge about leisurely in Loews' ‘lofty' luxury... Laissez lez Boutemps Rouler!

You made me curious, is this -

You made me curious, is this hotel really that comfortable? I've been in New Orleans a couple of times but it's the first time I hear about it, I have to give it a try sooner or later. I have just found out about some nice hawaii hotel deals and probably I will spend my next vacation there, so I will be able to make a pretty good comparison.
