Guide to New Orleans

Rule #5 Walking is unavoidable, so platform shoes would probably be a bad idea!

Rule #6 Weather is unpredictable…it ranges from 30-90 degrees and rain isn't uncommon…be prepared for anything and don't forget your umbrella or you could take more than beads home with you!

Rule #7 Drinking is a must, but the song "There Ain't No Place To Pee on Mardi Gras Day" was written for a reason. So unless you like to squat, keep that in mind when sucking down cocktails!

Rule #8 Always carry cash in your front pockets, and remember that this is one place that doesn't take American Express or any credit card for that matter. Most places only use plastic for their Mardi Gras masks.

Rule #9 You haven't had a tan in months…and there aren't any trees on Bourbon Street, so don't forget the sunscreen.

Rule #10 If you hate crowds, you're in the wrong place. Mardi Gras isn't a one man sport…and remember "There's safety in numbers." Those alleys are dark for a reason…no one usually goes that way!

Rule #11 Beads are valuable at Mardi Gras, especially if you're a guy, so bring something to put all your treasures in. You won't want to loose anything!

Rule #12 This is one event where purses are out and Fannie Packs are in! Do we have to spell it out for you?

Rule #13 There will be plenty of Kodak moments (especially if you've got plenty of beads), but leave dad's zoom lens at home and opt for the lightweight disposable. You'll thank me for it.

Rule #14 Remember, you're not rewarded for being polite! Scream, "Throw me something, Mister!"… and enjoy! End of Article
