A few things to know about Jazzfest, if this is your first festival, I have a few tips. If you can go in style- do the Big Chief Tickets with parking- it is so worth it for the covered areas, clean restrooms and hospitality tent make you feel like a VIP. New Orleans Jazzfest offers several different packages, from one where you can get into a front "row" section or have a shuttle pick you up at your hotel. To find out more, check out nojazzfest.com.
I also suggest getting your tickets in advance especially if doing the single days -- $40 is a great admission price for all of the amazing acts you will get to hear. Heck you can't even buy a single ticket for $40 to go see any of one of the bands, in this economy it is great to know you still can still be a part of historic music event without breaking the bank.
Remember simple things like sun screen, sun glasses, a light outdoor chair or blanket to sit on. You can also bring in one unopened bottle of water. Another great item to have is a hat. Check out Kabuki Hats in the Contemporary Craft Area if you forgot yours! While you are trying on hats, don't forget to look at all the great artists and craft person's work- they would love to ship home anything to help you remember your Jazzfest experience. If you purchase items every day and can't carry it all home, the local UPS Store will come pick it up at your hotel, pack it and ship it for you no problem! Just call (504) 523-3293.
All that is left to say except, get to you computer, jump on nojazzfest.com, get your tickets, find your hotels and check out www.tripsmarter.com/neworleans to find the best restaurants and clubs for your evening adventures. What are you waiting for, get going!
