A Colorful Bird is Coming to Northwest Florida!
Panama City Beach, FL -
The air traffic for Bay County is going to change come May 2010. We're going to look up to the skies and see 737 aircrafts painted desert gold, warm red, orange and canyon blue with bold black text on the side that says, "Southwest Airlines." Many locals and travelers wanting more flight options to Northwest Florida have been crossing their fingers and awaiting the Southwest bird to service the area since the announcement of the new airport.

We're going to look up to the skies and see 737 aircrafts painted desert gold, warm red, orange and canyon blue with bold black text on the side...
On January 16th 2001, Southwest Airlines launched its new exterior colors for their 737 jets. "Our new colors launch Southwest Airlines into the next Millennium, bright with promise and brimming with opportunity." said Herb Kelleher, Southwest's chairman, president, and CEO, as he addressed Employees and frequent flyers during a launch party at the Company's Dallas headquarters. "We've incorporated a new color to better reflect a more mature airline, but we kept our bright, red bellies to remind everyone that Southwest Airlines is still that spirited Freedom Fighter -- keeping airfares low so that more people can afford to fly." I say, "Halleluiah" to that quote and vision of what this airline is going to mean to NW Florida. The chosen colors of the Southwest 737's will be a great compliment to our sugar white sand and gorgeous Emerald Gulf waters.
Southwest's decision to choose the new airport is, in great part, thanks to a strategic alliance offered by the St. Joe Company. Southwest has not revealed their final choices, but two cities were announced on their site this Fall... and tickets will be available for purchase as early as December, 2009... nonstop flights to Nashville and Baltimore! Many local businesses, civic groups and civil servants have worked for years to bring Southwest Airlines to our area, and thanks to their efforts, it's time to celebrate!
