Ironman Triathlon
November 7, 2009
Where: Boardwalk Beach Resort

The four-hotel Boardwalk Beach Resort serves as the host location for this event, which is the first full distance qualifier for the following year's Ironman Triathlon World Championship in Hawaii. The swim takes place in the usually calm and cool waters of the Gulf of Mexico, with a classic beach start. The bike course, although mostly flat, is often windy, and contains enough rolling hills to give competitors a test without many opportunities for rests.

This is a truly International event with runners competing from over 30 countries.

Race Description:
The first-ever Ironman Florida Triathlon was held on November 6, 1999, as more than 1500 athletes converged on Panama City, Florida, to test their mettle. November is an off-time for northern tourists, so the entire town opens its doors and beautiful white-sand beaches to the athletes, families and fans.

Both Panama City and the Beach benefit from this exciting International event, with runners competing from over 30 countries. If you're interested in watching people push their bodies, minds, and spirits to the ultimate limit, then head over to Panama City Beach and be amazed! End of Article
