Panama City, FL -
The Gulf Jazz Society in its continuing effort to raise the level of jazz awareness and appreciation in the community will stage a two-day, free jazz festival on Fri. and Sat, Oct. 16th and 17th, 2009 in the historic St. Andrews section of Panama City, FL. This event, the Ninth Annual Jazz-By-the Bay Festival, will be staged in the waterfront Oaks-By-The-Bay Park, a centerpiece of this revitalized community. The goals of the festival are to solidify an alliance of community groups working together to create a culturally significant event, to introduce more persons to the joys of live music, to involve young persons in a jazz festival undertaking, to build a volunteer corps and to establish a jazz presence in an service area largely deprived of live jazz music.

Music will begin on Friday at 6:00 p.m. from the pavilion in Oaks-By-the-Bay Park. The Park is located at the foot of Beck Ave. next to the St. Andrews Marina. Food, beverage and festival concessions will be located on site. The festival is free and open to the public. The event will kick off on Fri. at 6:00 p.m. with the Sean Deitrich Trio with jazz vocalist Giacomo Gares––followed by J.B. Scott and the Swingin' Allstars.
