Jazz-By-the Bay Festival
October 21-22, 2011
Where: Oaks-By-the-Bay Park, St. Andrews, Panama City

A New York City resident, Jonathan Russell is an acclaimed young jazz violinist who bridges generational and cultural gaps in the classic jazz style. In addition to performing across the country on jazz violin he has performed Off Broadway and has contributed additional music credits for major release and independent films.

His performances in Europe and throughout the United States at clubs and jazz festivals such as the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and the Bohém Jazz Festival in Hungary have earned the respect and praise of seasoned jazz musicians such as mentor Wynton Marsalis, Bucky Pizzarelli and the late Les Paul. Russell's new CD scheduled for release this fall will feature Wynton Marsalis.

Russell will appear at Jazz-By-The-Bay with the Bud Leeds Classic Jazz Band, a eight-piece group including players with national reputations.

The band includes noted Dixieland and classic jazz players such as clarinetist Bud leeds (Venice, FL), trombonist Bill Allred (Orlando), banjoist Bob Leary Orlando),cornetist Ed Polcer (New Orleans) and pianist Bobby Van Deusen (Pensacola). The group will play both Fri. and Sat.

Other groups scheduled are the Longineu Parsons Quintet (playing both Fri. and Sat. and closing with a tribute to Louis Armstrong); the Northwest Florida State College Big Band, the Sean Dietrich Quartet, The Guffman Trio, with saxophonist Chuck Schwartz; and Pensacola vocalist Kathy Lyon.
