Panama City Beach, FL -
Mardi Gras in Panama City Beach? You bet! PCB may not be New Orleans, but we still know how to have a good time. In fact, the people of the Panama City area love Mardi Gras so much that there are actually three celebrations.

Downtown Panama City
First up is the Downtown Panama City Mardi Gras.
The Downtown Panama City Mardi Gras sponsored by the Krewe of Massalina features an all-day music, food and fun Festival at the Marina Civic Center, an evening Parade, Costume Contests and more. Festivities will take place on January 29th and 30th, 2010.

Mardi Gras at Pier Park
Next up is Mardi Gras on Panama City Beach held at Pier Park by the Krewe of Dominique Youx. Friday night February 5th the festivities start at 5PM and continue until Midnight. There will be a street party, classic cars on display, the chance to meet and mingle with prior Mardi Gras Kings and Queens and of course lots of tasty Cajun food!
Then on Saturday February 6th the fun will start with a kid's parade at 10AM followed by the Mardi Gras parade featuring lots of unique floats, bands and Krewes in costume traveling down the boardwalk of Pier Park with tons of beads and treats to throw out to the crowd.

St. Andrew's Mardi Gras
Also on February 12th-13th Mardi Gras in St. Andrews will be hosted by the Krewe of St. Andrews. This is where Panama City started celebrating Mardi Gras, in 1997. From modest beginnings, the St. Andrews celebration has turned into one of the years can't miss events.
On Friday the 12th beginning at 4pm there will be a Kids Parade down Beck Avenue from 15th St. to 11th St. Kids will be supplied with tons of beads to throw to onlookers along the route.
Following the Kids Parade, there will be a Pet Parade hosted by the Bay County Humane Society.
Then on Saturday the 13th beginning at 1PM the Main Parade will start at Oakland Terrace Park, down 11th St. to Beck Ave. There will be beads, doubloons and other unique treasures thrown to the crowd from more than 20 brightly colored floats!

The Krewes that sponsor these Mardi gras celebrations have grabbed a bit of something from other Carnival-type events. There are amusement rides, food & beverage vendors, special performances, a Kid's Parades, a Pet Parades, and even a Gasparilla-style Pirate Invasion!
All three Mardi Gras celebrations are more family-centered than the raucous street party in New Orleans!
Can't make New Orleans for Mardi Gras? Then give Panama City Beach a try!

Well don't bother commenting anything negative on this site because they won't post it. I commented on 2/15/2010 and guess what it's nowhere to be seen. Nothing bad just constructive criticism and suggestions.

Mardi Gras 2010 - Submitted by Anonymous on Tue, 02/16/2010 - 14:49.
We went to the Pier park & St. Andrews celebrations 2010 the Pier Park parade was great and the St. Andrews Parade was even better!! We have been going down to these Celebrations since 2001 where we just happened up on it when we were just riding around looking. We had a ball!! But every year the parade gets bigger and the entertainment gets worse. What happened to the Zydeco music that's what you want to here at a Mardi Gras. We really enjoyed the parades with all the families but when we went back Sat. evening to have some Adult fun all the vendors were packing up and the bands were playing music we had never heard of. I believe it was the 2001 celebration don't remember if it was Downtown or St. Andrews but they had a band called Dickie Do & the Zydeco. They interacted with the crowd and played till the end. It was really a blast. I know it was cold but it is always cold and sometimes it is raining but they might have stopped while it was raining but I don't remember everyone packing up and leaving it was very disappointing. We go to the expense and all to go down there and have a good time and they roll up the streets at dark. The one at Pier park was good but even the stores stayed later than the vendors. and bands. If we go back next year we will probably go to the Downton & St Andrews celebrations. We had never been to the Pier Park one and we love Pier Park and thought it was the perfect place to have a Mardi Gras celebration because it looks like a little town and right on the beach but everything was more expensive also than the other two . I think we will stick to them in the future. The stores at St. Andrews were closed but in the past the Downtown one always had the stores open and we really enjoyed going from store to store to look and always found something to buy. All in all we had a good time but wish that good old fashion Mardi Gras music had been the only music and it had lasted till it was supposed to.

We are from Dothan and we always got to both the downtown & St, Andrews but when I was searching for it for this year all I saw was the Pier Park & St. Andrews. I did not see the downtown one. ( about two wks ago ) so we made arrangements for only those two. It's to late to go to the one this weekend. I wonder how many others will miss it because it was posted late. We have never been to the Pierpark one so it should be fun. We love the downtown one because of all the unique stores we always find something to buy. Wish you could set up some way to send out e-mails maybe like in Dec. to let us know what is going on for these events. Will miss going to the downtown one but now I will get to experience all of them and will know next year what to look for." we need earlier post"

The Dominique Youx parade will start at Seahaven & go west on Front Beach Roar to Pier Park. It sounds like it's even longer this year.

Parades! - Submitted by Anonymous on Fri, 01/22/2010 - 16:21.
The dates on the Downtown parade above are wrong. The Downtown parade is January 30, Pier Park on the beach is February 5-6 and the St Andrews parade is February 12-13. Three fun-filled weekends to choose from. I am with the Panama City Parrothead club and we will have a float in all three parades plus the kids parade downtown!! Can't wait! Better get my bead throwing arm ready!

Mardi Gras At The Beach - Submitted by Anonymous on Fri, 01/22/2010 - 15:42.
The celebration at Pier Park on Feb. 05 & 06 will be the largest party in the best location in the Panama City Area. Events actually start on Thursday evening with a party at the Calypso Restaurant, and a fireworks display over the Gulf of Mexico will be done Friday night. Parking is far better than the other parades, and the hundreds of merchants welcome partiers with open arms.
Panama City Beach Online reports "Pier Park in Panama City Beach, Florida is the best shopping and entertainment destination in the area.
1 million square feet of shopping and entertainment including the best beach food and music at Jimmy Buffetts Margaritaville, Raggae music and Island cousine at Raggae J's Island Grill, live country music all day at Tootsies Orchid Lounge, trivia, food and non-stop sports at Buffalo Wild Wings and much more await you at Pier Park in Panama City Beach, Florida."
This is a party you don't want to miss!
Mardi Gras Conflicting Dates - Submitted by Anonymous on Fri, 01/22/2010 - 15:04.
Why do the different communities from PC to Pensacola not coordinate their Mardi Gras activities so they don't overlap? I have already made plans to attend the Ft Walton Beach parade and ball on Feb 6th and I see that PC Beach has events the same day. This friendly competition for dates makes it difficult for tourists/snowbirds to participate in multiple activities.
