Looking for that next big thing to "look forward to"? Well, here it is... The 20th Annual Lobster Festival & Tournament at Schooners. How could you possibly forget? If you've ever been then you probably didn't. This is one event that's truly unforgettable; after all, it is the biggest 3 day lobster festival in all of Florida! This year's festival will be held September 17-20th in front of Schooners on the powdery white sands of the Gulf. Speaking of sand, the 11th annual Sand Sculpting Contest will be held on Saturday and will showcase award winning sculpting team, Sanding Ovations.

This year, Schooners will be donating the proceeds from the event to the Toys for Kids and the Florida Aquatic & Marine Institute, a program that helps to develop, restore and strengthen families. Thousands of divers, lobster lovers and party goers flock to this event from all over the southeast yearly to attend this event in which tournament divers will be competing in a variety of categories including Spiny Lobster, Shovelnose Lobster and Big 6. The final weigh-ins will begin Saturday and end Sunday when the grand prizes will be awarded and spectators will get to enjoy what it was they came for.

The best part of this festival is the feast! Remember how Forrest Gump rambled on and on about the many different ways to enjoy shrimp? Well get excited because the same applies to lobster. Fresh, fried, grilled, sauteed, blackened, broiled, skewered... any way you can imagine.

After that weekend of excitement you'll have just enough time to recover before its time to start the scavenger hunt for the perfect Halloween costume to sport to the Schooners Annual Halloween Party. And you better make it a good one, since the costume contest at Schooners not only offers a cash prize but some fierce competition as well. This party just keeps getting better year after year so if you've never attended, don't fret this is sure to be the best one yet!
