What About Frank Brown Park?
Panama City Beach, FL -
Everybody knows that Panama City is famous for the world's most beautiful beaches... and it's true, our beaches are among the most beautiful in the world, but there's more to Panama City Beach... than the beach, and it's called, "Frank Brown Park!" The name is rather unassuming but the two hundred plus acres of Frank Brown Park are every bit as beautiful... and FUN as any beach on the Emerald Coast... just different! It's a "park" and it has grown by leaps and bounds in its short existence but most people, especially visitors, are completely unaware of everything that's going on at Frank Brown Park... and more to the point, they're missing out on all the FUN... morning, noon and nighttime, too!

From March to November, the baseball diamond at Frank Brown Park is THE place to be.
The park has got it all! Softball and baseball fields, soccer and football fields... tennis courts and an indoor gymnasium, plus a dog park and festival space galore, including a permanent horse show ring and venue for one of the Southeast's premier Tennessee Walking Horse shows every April. The picnic areas, saltwater fishing pier, freshwater youth fishing lake, greenway, trails and so much more are open year-round for your recreational pleasure and because it's always nice to be outdoors in Panama City whether it's winter, spring, summer or fall! In addition, reservations for indoor facility rentals or outside pavilions can be arranged for special events, family reunions, weddings and birthdays, too!
From March to November, the baseball diamond at Frank Brown Park is THE place to be. Nothing is more American than baseball and it has become an equal opportunity sport at Panama City's biggest park. Frank Brown Park is particularly proud of its "Miracle League" that has made baseball possible for those with special needs. The league is open to ages 3 years and up with any type or degree of physical or mental impairment. Each and every player gets a chance to bat, run the bases and enjoy the roar of the crowd... just like all the other players who participate in everything from fastpitch to softball and the Grand Slam World Series of Baseball held every year at Frank Brown Park.
To complement the baseball diamonds and other existing facilities at the park, the Aquatics Center was designed and opened to rave reviews more than 5 years ago. The center is utilized for national as well as international competitive swimming, diving, water polo and synchronized swimming and of course for the sheer pleasure of swimming and cooling off in the summer heat. The state of the art facility features a heated/cooled 50 meter Olympic Pool with a one meter springboard diving well and a 5,000 square foot Splash Park. There's something for everyone with a variety of exciting programs and events year round for swimmers and non-swimmers of all ages. The "big pool" is open daily throughout the summer months until Wednesday, August 10th.
Cheerleading and gymnastic camps and competitions are also a part of this fabulous park... no sugar-white sand here but every bit as much fun as any day on the beach. The park also serves as the trailhead for the greenways and trails system with paved trails through the park and on to Gayle's Trails... nine miles of paved pathways which run parallel to the north side of Highway 98, named after Panama City Beach Mayor, Gayle Oberst, who envisioned the project. The trails provide a wonderful quality of life adventure where exercise and nature go hand in hand, leading to a 3,000 acre conservation park. The park includes beautiful boardwalks, bridges, picnic areas and an outdoor classroom. Over the next ten years the city hopes to expand the trails from St. Andrews State Park to Camp Helen, to join the Walton County trail system. There are currently three trail heads-north of 98 on Gulf Boulevard, just off Hwy 79 and of course, one at Frank Brown Park. Perhaps this park will soon have a moniker of its own, equal to or better than "the world's most beautiful beaches!" But one thing's for sure... Frank Brown Park is a world of "OUTDOOR FUN" and a Panama City Beach "hot spot" for locals and visitors alike... so, what about Frank Brown Park!
