Just because it is winter, it doesn't mean people and activities come to a screeching halt on Panama City Beach. It's exactly the opposite. There is plenty to do and see, and sometimes we get lucky with some mild weather. Even if it is chilly, it's certainly easy to bundle up and stay warm. Panama City Beach also offers some of the best rates on hotels during New Year's Eve. One of the most enjoyable places to bring in the New Year is at Panama City Beaches Pier Park and Historic Grand Lagoon on the east end.

Pier Park is the perfect place for a beach ball drop – a glowing 800 pound beach ball drop at midnight. The festivities begin on Monday, the 31st at 5:30 p.m. and will feature a Family Celebration complete with prize drawings, stilt walkers, mascots and the kid-friendly Family Beach Ball Drop, consisting of more than 10,000 inflatable beach balls released onto Park Drive on the boardwalk.

This leads into the Midnight Celebration featuring live entertainment, fireworks and the New Year's Eve Beach Ball Drop. The headliner performance is Country music star, singer/songwriter James Otto. The event is free!

If you'd like to be on the water, then the Boatyard on the Historic Grand Lagoon is your destination. There will be fireworks at 10:00 pm over the Grand Lagoon and a DJ to dance the New Year in with your loved ones.

Wherever you choose to spend your New Year's Eve on Panama City Beach, you're in for something special and memorable.
